Perhaps a discussion on Web Site software should start with the most downloaded web site software in the world. And that is CoffeeCup. The CoffeeCup web site keeps a tally of downloads, and currently boasts well over 21 million downloads from 87 different countries.
Why is CoffeeCup software so popular? Well, all 24 software programs in its suite can be downloaded for free, without having to purchase, (with restrictions on use however). But, many other software providers offer the same deal. CoffeeCup is so popular because each of the programs in the suite is useful and inexpensive. All are priced in the $19 - $49 price range. And, if you buy a pack of programs they are discounted further. They have for example a Developer Pack, a Designer Pack and a Web Utility Pack. Each of these packs consists of eight programs, and each is priced at $129. The three packs can be combined together into the Webmaster Super Pack. Perhaps it is my Scottish heritage, but it is the Webmaster Super Pack which I purchased for only $189, a saving of 76%.
If you want to start out with your Web Site Design software on a budget, then the first program you should purchase is the Coffee Cup Visual site Designer which will cost you a mere $49.
From the most popular Web Site software to the software which has been traditionally used by most professional Web Site Designers. And that of course is Dreamweaver. The latest version is Dreamweaver 8. Dreamweaver was developed by the Macromedia corporation, which has a great suite of programs including Flash. Another great suite of Multi Media programs has been developed by Adobe. Well, Macromedia and Adobe are now the one company and operating under the Adobe label.
All Adobe products are great. But they are priced at the higher end of the market. They would not be my recommendation for someone starting out in Web Site Designing. Clicking on any of the Adobe links that I have made will take you straight to the Adobe web site, where you can have a good look at their many great products.
Most Web Sites that I have designed over many years, have been designed using NetObjects Fusion. If you would like to start designing and publishing web sites without being constantly frustrated with technicalities and not knowing what to do next, or how to do it, then you could not go past NetObjects Fusion. At a couple of hundred dollars only, it is lower priced than Dreamweaver, and certainly worth the investment if you are going to be serious about designing Web Sites.
There is a new kid on the block. Well, there is some new software on the market for developing Web Sites. It is called XSitePro. The program was developed especially with Web Site marketers in mind. But it has many other useful tools also. One that I really appreciate is that it has built in SEO (Search Engine Optimization) tools. The more I use XSitePro, the more likely it is to push my current favourite NetObjects Fusion into second place.
Whether you are a complete newbie to Internet Marketing or a long-established online entrepreneur you will find that XSitePro will:
* Cut your development time down massively (what previously took days and weeks will take hours and minutes) * Allow you to do things that were previously only possible by employing costly programmers and web development staff, which means that you control your web site and not the techies. * Let you concentrate on building your online business rather than allowing untold hours to be soaked up developing web sites. * Take away the frustration of web site development so that running your online business becomes a pleasure rather than a chore. * Put tools at your disposal which will allow you to take your new or existing business to the next level of success. * Make it easy to keep your web sites up-to-date so that they don't end up becoming cobwebs (i.e. like the vast majority of Internet Marketing web sites that are rarely if ever updated because it is just too much trouble using conventional tools)
